Caption and history:
Pictured above is a photo of the Puyallup Fair midway (Fairway) area taken around the 1940's/50's. The photo shows the north end turn around of the wooden coaster (Coaster Thrill Ride), the Old Mill ride, Whip, Caterpillar, and the Fun House. Around 1936, Edward Bollinger added these permanent rides. It was the fair's wish and his desire to have more permanent rides at the fair. Unfortunately, in June 1970, a fire destroyed all of these rides except for Coaster Thrill Ride which only received minor damage on its north end turnaround.
The Puyallup Fair Museum, located on the fairgrounds, has a restored old Whip car, A Dodgem car, and two Old Mill boats (both restored and unrestored version) that were donated by locals around 2001. They are available for viewing during the September fair.
